This one cuts. This entire song came to me one early morning. I grabbed a pen and pad and it all came out. I had a wonderful dream about a failing theatre play where nothing went right…I was simultaneously holding onto a strong conviction that people sometimes over-narrate their lives and relationships to the point of failure over and over again without realizing why. I imagined a scenario where ‘plays’ continued to flop due to a fault in the ‘playwright’, while the ignorant playwright continued to blame props, actors and staging instead of realizing that the plot wasn’t realistic, the characters weren’t relatable, and the storyline was forced.

She’s a hopeless romantic and she’ll write everybody in
And build a cast of characters from beginning til the end
When she doesn’t like her story she’ll scratch it and start again
With a whole new batch of scenery, satisfaction from her pen.

Well the actor’s inexperienced and he fumbles as he goes
But she looks past his innocence as she clarifies her prose
She’ll blame it on the casting but the audience all know
It’s the writer of the play whose lack of vision shows
